Day 11 – St Lucie to Fort Pierce

Day 11, April 15th, the day we finally arrive at the Atlantic Intercoastal Waterway and commit to a long, long journey north.

It was only a 37 mile day, but it felt a lot longer. I’d guess it was due to our St Lucie Lock entanglement! LOL!

About the only notable event occurred while we were queued up for a bridge opening. I was on the radio with the bridgetender when suddenly Keith from the Pride of Maui spotted us…from somewhere. I really didn’t need the distraction at that moment, but he was hailing us and wanting to get an email to send us more information and comment again on how much he liked our boat.  Good news…I didn’t hit any of the other boats or the bridge. Yeah!

We zoomed along the St Lucie river past Stuart without issue. Made the big turn to the north and timed our docking at Fort Pierce for slack tide.  We repeatedly heard and read of the challenges at this marina when the tide is flowing full clip.  We had no issues and were parked at a nice T dock – a favorite place to put catamarans.

We had dinner at the marina and the next morning we walked to our 1st legit coffee shop of the trip!!! We were there before it opened so I ripped a few pushups which always makes the coffee taste less bitter 🙂

Next stop, Titusville…and our first altercation :-O
