Our day began with a wave to Team Ripple as they departed Fernandina. They always get rolling before we do.
Both boats are headed to a quiet anchorage, a favorite of Don and Robbin’s, in a small creek (Duplin River) along Sepalo Island. We’re super happy they’ve shared their itinerary and allowed us to shadow them for a few days. So many decisions to make every day – it’s nice to offload a few of them to our new friends who have “been there, done that”!
It was quiet when we started the day but the weather forecasters promised strong winds by mid day, and then a taper for the evening. They were right. There is a shot of the Atlantic as we passed an inlet – the Atlantic was angry!
We went by Cumberland Island which is known for it’s wild horses. Then Jekyll Island, known as the location where, in 1910, a group of scumbag politicians and elites secretly planned the creation of the Federal Reserve Bank – the institution used to devalue everyone’s wealth. I’m remembering a book I read years ago, “The Creature from Jekyll Island” – a fascinating but disturbing read.
The wind died to near nothing before we arrived at our anchorage. It was very peaceful and the bugs were still minimal, so we grilled a big steak!
I flew the drone to capture the tranquility of the surroundings.
And….Woot, woot!! We made it out of Florida! Check out the travel log picture that shows our route and stats. We’ve traveled almost 900 miles!
Next stop – Isle of Hope Marina, GA.
