Day 7 – Venice to Palm Harbour

With a storm brewing, we decide to stay at the Crow’s Nest Marina for another night. Heading south in 40+ mph winds with the potential for a severe thunderstorm was more than our exhausted adrenal glands could manage!  We thought a tiny amount of negotiation would be enough to extend our stay for another night. Nope. The dock hand wanted to accommodate us but had to contact the owner for the Ok.  The owner was decisive. No!  Apparently the winds and currents at this marina are especially bad during a storm.  Bigger boats (ours is not big) rip the pilings out. Evidently the owner has incorporated “piles before people” into his business model.  Then again, maybe waking him before 7am caused our expulsion!

Rainy, overcast and breezy as heck….and off we go with no where to go.  Teri really, really doesn’t like this situation and goes to work trying to find a secure harbor to keep us safe. Our prospects for a marina weren’t looking good but then she got Warren on the phone from Palm Harbour. He immediately said he didn’t have a spot for us, but he heard the desperation in Teri’s voice.  He hesitated and then suggested he might have a non-spot spot in the back forty of the basin. At this point Teri said she LOVED HIM!  I didn’t see that coming!! The Power of Teri!!!

Palm Harbour Marina was tricky to navigate, but well protected. Just what we needed. We tied up and had a drink!

The next morning was beautifully calm and we found a wonderful convenience store selling fresh made food. Egg and bacon sandwiches for breakfast!!
